New Yorkers love to complain. Fashion Week is still a few weeks away, but show attendees are already complaining about Alexander Wang's show at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. "It's the biggest show in New York, so we're all going to be covering it—we're just going to be pissed," fashion photographer Hunter Flynn Abrams told the Daily News.
Aside from the epic struggle that is the commute to the Navy Yard—in heels, no less—the real pain comes from the shows' tight schedule. "Editors will have to give up one show to see another show," said photographer Jennifer Graylock. "To get to Brooklyn, they're going to have to give up two or three shows."
It looks like there's a general disdain for anything non-Manhattan from the fashion elite. "I don't even go over to Brooklyn to visit my good friend," said Ann Caruso, a stylist and consultant who previously worked at Vogue. Apparently, she didn't see her magazine's ode to Kings County this summer.
But the new Brooklyn president, Eric Adams, is confident they'll see his borough's allure. "When New York's trend setters strut their stuff over to the Navy Yard, they'll conclude that Brooklyn's the best backdrop in New York City for fashion," he told the paper.
