Fashion and inclusion will be center stage from 3-5 p.m. on Feb. 9, at the first Best Buddies Fashion Show at the Lyons Township High School South Campus Performing Arts Center, 4900 S. Willow Springs Road, Western Springs.
Students will strike a pose on a fashion catwalk modeling clothes from shops and boutiques in the surrounding area. Admission is $5, with all proceeds going toward sending students to a Best Buddies Leadership Conference at Indiana University over the summer. Last year, the Best Buddies Club sent nine students, and they are hoping to send more this year.
Lyons Township’s Best Buddies Club pairs students without intellectual disabilities in a one-to-one friendship with students with intellectual disabilities for one academic year. While being matched in a friendship, the students must make weekly contact with their buddies, do two activities a month with their buddies, and attend all meetings and events.
