Grammy 2014 Fashion: Who Wore It Best? - MTV.com

The Grammy Awards may be one of the biggest nights in music, but it is also one of the biggest nights in fashion. Artists from all genres descended upon the 56th Annual Grammy awards red carpet wearing daring looks that sparkled and shined, and in many cases, weren't afraid to show off some sexy skin.

From Taylor Swift's Gucci gown to Macklemore's emerald velvet suit to Katy Perry's on-tune Valentino, there were so many memorable looks that it was hard to narrow it down to our best or worst.

That's why MTV News, along with MTV Style editor Gabrielle Wilson, US Weekly Fashion Police contributor Chelsea White and #shehashadit blogger Jarvis Derrell decided to give out our own Grammy fashion awards.

It's All Light

Ladies looked stunning this year rocking gowns in gold, nude, white and reflective garments making lighter tones a big trend of the night.

Nominees: Iggy Azalea, Chrissy Teigen, Paris Hilton and Amber Rose

Winner: Paris Hilton in Haus of Milani

"Hands-down favorite: Paris Hilton. Like a Barbie hybrid fierce creation of love and light and lace and sex and just everything that you need in the world." - Jarvis

"Our favorite had to be Paris Hilton. She wore this amazing floor length Haus of Milani dress that had a really cool mock turtle neck with rhinestones lining the turtleneck."- Gabrielle

"Who knew dark horse coming up front in light taking the crowd, she looked absolutely fantastic with the peek-a-book streak down her side and her quaff up-do. She stole my heart." - Chelsea

Dapper Dudes

The men of the Grammy's brought their fashion A-game, experimenting with colors, prints and fabrics, creating memorable looks that in some cases stood out above the ladies.

Nominees: Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell and Miguel

Winner: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis

"I have to give it Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. They just looked bananas amazing. Ryan Lewis with the head-to-toe houndstooth, Macklemore in full velvet suit, it's amazing. And let's not forget about the coolest part of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' look, their shoes they were both wearing: studded loafers." - Gabrielle

"Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, just a vision in that emerald velvet dream come true and then Ryan Lewis in that gorgeous houndstooth, I mean not everybody can rock that and it's really hard as a man to be bold and make a statement, but they did it so well and I loved it." - Jarvis

Better Luck Next Time

Let's face it, not everyone can have a stand-out red carpet moment, and unfortunately there were some artists on Grammy night who just missed the mark.

Nominees: Sara Bareilles, Zendaya Coleman, Ariana Grande and Colbie Caillat

Winner: Sara Bareilles in Bluemarine

"She sings so beautifully it just didn't translate it looked like she forgot to take her braids out after spring break. I don't know if she forgot the shoes and purse she was going to wear, but it wasn't quite working." - Chelsea

"The worst had to be my girl Sara Bareilles, I mean Katniss Everdeen did your hair you fell into a flower patch it was just kind of tragic. You stole someone's red shoes, it was just a mess...that was a little to 'Brave'." - Jarvis

The Trendsetters

Some of the biggest divas in music brought the fierce fashion to the red carpet, making bold statements in daring dresses, making it hard to pick just one that stood above the rest.

Nominees: Katy Perry, Rita Ora, Taylor Swift, Pink

Winner: Taylor Swift in Gucci

"The dress was just so perfectly fit to her, glittering, it was almost like she was covered in full chainmail. The details of Taylor Swift's dress was really amazing. If you looked really closely, you would see that the collar and the whole chainmail of the dress was laced with rhinestones." - Gabrielle

"Even though she was one of the many wearing a neutral safe color on the carpet, she managed to stand out above all ... Taylor, you nailed it." - Chelsea
