A Russian fashion blog is under fire for publishing a photo of a white woman sitting atop a chair designed to look like a naked, bound black woman.
Critics blasted the Buro 24/7 blog and the woman in the photo, socialite and magazine editor Dasha Zhukova, for the bold display of "racism," made even worse as the image circulated on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
"Russian billionaire sits on a naked black woman chair. What could possibly go wrong with such playful racist misogyny?" the Twitter user BeardedGenius wrote.
"You have to question the goodness of a world in which someone thought this would be a good idea," another user, writer Jessica Valenti tweeted.

The photo of Zhukova accompanied an article about the beauty's contemporary art magazine, Garage.
Mira Duma, editor of Buro 24/7, cropped the chair out of the photo on her website and posted an apology on Instagram, explaining that the questionable furniture "should only be seen as a piece of art."

It was designed by Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard, a reinterpretation of earlier work by artist Allen Jones, famous for turning women's bodies into furniture, commentary on racial and gender issues in the 1960s.
Zhukova, girlfriend of Russian billionaire businessman Roman Abramovich, also responded to the outcry.
"I regret allowing an artwork with such charged meaning to be used in this context. I utterly abhor racism and would like to apologize to those offended by my participation in this shoot," she said, according to the website Styleite.
"Garage Magazine has a strong track record of promoting diversity and racial and gender equality in the worlds of art and fashion, and will continue in our mission to stir positive debate on these and other issues."
