When it’s this cold outside, it’s so easy to want to throw on some jeans and a boyfriend sweater and call it a look. I love a good casual denim outfit, but for those days you want to turn it up a notch, try reaching for some accordion pleats.
Accordion pleats have been all over the pre-fall shows— and why not get ahead of next fall's fashion trend right now? Accordion pleats add a little texture and movement to your skirts and dresses without feeling like a schoolgirl (though sometimes you want to do that too!).
Update a classic midcalf skirt (another pre-fall trend to come!) with a little more movement and body by going for one with accordion pleats. Rebecca Taylor went even further with some graphic detail, but a solid skirt is just as beautiful!
Cedric Charlier showed a great metallic skirt, peeking out of a light pink coat (similar to those I blogged about earlier). Metallic is a great way to dress up a more classic work or day look.
You can also shorten the hemline, like Gucci’s collection. The accordion pleats on this dress update the traditional little black dress with something a bit more special.
