Cliche, isn't it? My New Year's resolutions always tend to go back to the age-old goal of hitting the gym—but fashionably, of course! And the new spring 2014 sport trend is not a bad way to motivate you to hit the gym! The beauty of my new workout M.O. is that the exercise in question is pretty mellow (hello, Pilates mat!). THUS allowing for me to do a class in some of this sport-inspired gear and continue on my day in the same look.
For example, while I don't love a straight legging look, they could be great under Milly's mesh pencil skirt post-workout. Or what about Gucci's mesh T-shirt, paired with super-slinky, sexy Bermuda shorts? The tee could easily transition from gym to date night.
My favorite athletic influences though for the season have to be the tried-and-true gym class heroes: Prada and Sacai. I am a sucker for the crisp varsity colors of Sacai's silky mesh trousers and anorak looks, completely morphing athletic apparel into a collection worshiped by the fashion gods.
And who can forget Prada, layering embellished dresses with collegiate stripe sweaters and tube socks! Prada teaches us new tricks in layering every season, but this spring's collection has to be one of my favorites. Perfect for my ultimate goal of making my fitness routine both fun and something that fits in with my wardrobe.
See below for some of my favorite elements to work sporty into an on-the-town look:
So tell me, will you be rocking the sporty trend? And, of course, have you been hitting the gym this week? Be sure to check out Nikki's story on cute gym bags. We're all about gym motivation!
