A 28-year-old Madera man was shot in the foot Friday evening during an altercation outside Fashion Fair Mall in central Fresno.
The man told police that he and several others were outside the mall when a passing car brushed up against his wife. The incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. near the JC Penneys store, the man told police.
The man said he yelled at the driver, who got out of the vehicle, assaulted him and then shot him in the foot before driving away.
Two or three other people were inside the vehicle.
Mall customers were kept from their cars for about an hour while police investigated the crime scene.
