Lady Gaga commands that we all get our eyes checked so we can gaze upon her on the February cover of Fashion Magazine, aka Canada's "No. 1 Fashion and Beauty Magazine."
She looks pretty cool there, although that is some North Texas realtor hair she is working in the cover photo. Seriously, she looks like she's about to make me an offer on a "historical fixer up" in Amarillo or something. She also gives a good interview in the issue with some nuggets about the Artpop diva's Sharknado-esque star power that I myself had no clue of. Did you know her perfume, Fame, sold 6 million freaking bottles during the first week it was produced. (My friend Lori likes it and she made me go smell it. I was a tad underwhelmed.) Also, according to the magazine, Lady Gaga is the "only chart-topper to have used the word "transgendered" in a Billboard number one hit (2011's "Born This Way")." Well, damn.
The "Bad Romance"singer also has plenty to say about fashion and what it has meant to her over the years. And in case you've ever doubted this, she says yes, she does think about her fans when it comes to how she looks in public:
"Fashion is that thing that saved me from being sad. I've always cared about my costumes and my clothes. When I leave my apartment I like to look pretty for my fans but not [in a] hot sexy girl [way]—I don't care about that, I just want to make you feel something with what I wear. I want you to feel happy and enjoy the theatre of my life the way that I do. No matter what happens with my music and wherever I go that—that heart of that glamorous girl in New York will never be gone. This is who I am and its never been an act and its never been marketing. This is me all the way to my core and fashion is a big part of my life."
She opens up a little about how she's struggled with a "sad heart":
"I put all my pain into my work and as joyful as this album is, this joy and if you look at the album cover there's an explosion of joy that is coming from a place of intense sadness that's been in my heart since I was younger and this is why we understand each other because I was not born happy, naturally always joyful or believing in myself. I was born with a sad heart. I didn't feel alive unless I was on a stage."
Oh and Lady Gaga says yes, she has indeed found love. That actually makes me happy, for some reason! Probably because I am a huge, celebrity-loving dork. Oh well.
And yes, that's what it's actually called. Fashion Magazine. Personally, I like this no-bullshit approach to publication titles. Way to be all cryptic and shit, Vogue and Elle.
