Don't mess with Texas—especially Dallas, especially now. It looks like the Lone Star State's third largest city is having a real fashion moment—is that Karl Lagerfeld walking down the street?—and we couldn't be more excited

Here are five signs that Dallas is the city to watch right this minute.

1. Chanel Chanel Chanel. When Lagerfeld picked Dallas as Chanel's Metiers d'Art show location for late 2013, let's not pretend the fashion world wasn't surprised. But the cowboy-themed rodeo runway was out of this world.

2. The Paris connection. Looks like Dallas is forging a strong link to the fashion capital of the world, Paris. Earlier this month, luxe boutique Forty Five Ten and Atelier Swarovski teamed up to host an even called Bonjour Y'all—A Dallas Salute to Paris. Designers and makers including Joseph Altuzarra, Edward Bess, Eddie Borgo, and Alejandro Ingelmo rubbed shoulders with VIPs including Erin Wasson, Anne Hathaway, and Leigh Lezark.

3. Serious fashion, Texas-style hospitality. Opened in 2007, VOD stocks harder-to-find labels that are staples in a hard-core fashionista's wardrobe—including Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant, and Zero + Maria Cornejo. The coolest part? According to a write-up in D magazine, the store isn't a stuck-up designer museum at all—"The best part is the come-one, come-all vibe that oozes from the shop: Ladies try on clothes while their babies play with Bolin’s kid-friendly King Charles Spaniels."

4. It Girl of the moment Nasiba Adilova. “Dallas reminds me a lot of Russia: Women here are not afraid to push boundaries, test their style, wear statement pieces, and be bold in the way they dress,” Adilova told The Coveteur . Follow her on Instagram right here.

5. The first fashion blogger reality-TV show. Yup, we're talking about Courtney Kerr's show on Bravo.
