The body of a New York fashion designer who went missing after a night of drinking has been fished out of the Hudson River near his docked yacht, The Post has learned.
Michele Savoia, 55, was pulled from the icy waters at Pier 59 in Chelsea shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, police sources said.
Cops believe that Savoia was drunk and accidentally fell off boat, which was docked off 12th Avenue around 25th Street, law-enforcement sources said.
Savoia’s friend and longtime driver, Alberto Alonso – who reported his pal missing — said he got a call from an NYPD detective shortly before 2 p.m. confirming that his boss’s body had been found in the river.
“What can I say?” the shaken, teary Alonso told The Post at his Queens home minutes after the heartbreaking call came in. “I lost a good friend and a good brother today.
“I was hoping he was drunk and holed up with some supermodels,” Alonso said, chuckling at the memory of his popular, party-loving pal before breaking down in tears.
“Now I have to call his daughter and tell her. She’s 23, and I know she’s not going to take this well.”
Savoia – known as “Savoia the Tailor” – was famous for his hand-crafted, retro suits and counted Robert De Niro, Ricky Martin, Mickey Rourke and Chris Noth as clients over the years.
The 6-foot-tall, heavily tattooed designer was last seen leaving Chelsea club Marquee New York around 4 am Thursday, at the end of New York Fashion Week.
Alonso reported him missing Saturday after failing to hear from him for two days, police sources said.
Friends became worried when Savoia didn’t show up for a Valentine’s Day dinner with a girlfriend. Savoia’s friends said he would sometimes disappear but would not stay out of contact for as long as he had last week.
The designer, who often wore a heavy fur coat, was feared to have fallen off his yacht after one pal noticed a side canopy was broken.
