Fashion favorite Mia Moretti has DJ'd at events for Cartier, Versace, Christian Dior, Bulgari and Prabal Gurung
When one says DJ, automatically names like David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Deadmau5 may pop up as they spearhead the mainstream EDM movement but this is not always the case in close fashion circles.
Always ones to dance to the beat of their own drum (or untz in this case), the global fashion industry have come to adopt their own DJ favorites to spin at label houses launch parties and events. According to WWD , these designer clad DJs of the fashion elite currently include Harley Viera-Newton, Chelsea Leyland, Hannah Bronfman, Brendan Fallis, The Dolls, Mia Moretti and Margot, and designer/DJ duo Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein.
With clients like Chanel, Valentino, Fendi and Vogue, many of them can now demand fees ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 for a three-hour event, and though that may not be at the level of Vegas residency status it still beats the rate one may find at an underground LES club. Plus, they get front row access to fashion week’s hottest runway shows.
“The Dolls are among a growing coterie of designer-clad DJs who consistently receive star billing at stylish soirees—and sit front row at runway shows when not manning the turntables. The rise of DJ culture over the past decade…has made it near mandatory for party planners to secure a marquee record spinner for any event aiming to generate buzz.”
