We got the lowdown from Gretta on style smarts, what not to do, and who is leading the style pack.

What is style?

It is expressing your personality through your clothing, your beauty — but most importantly, how you put it together.

What’s your favorite trend this season?

I would say my favorite is the leather trend. I really love playing around with leather in clothing — as part of a trim on a T shirt, or a panel on a pencil skirt. Leather adds edginess, and it’s that little something that’s different.

What gets your vote for riskiest trends?

No. 1: The cropped top. It’s either going to work, or it isn’t. People need to be really careful when they do that look.

No. 2: The perforated or see-through pieces. I love texture in clothing, but you have to do see-through
strategically and smart. There’s a fine line between trendy and trashy.

What’s your go-to look?

I have a lot of jackets, from shrunken versions to blazers. I love a topper, it pulls a look together. I always feel it anchors my look, it’s my power piece.

What are most women afraid of when it comes to fashion?

I think most are afraid of change. It’s easy to get comfortable in looks you’ve worn too long or that are safe. Women are often afraid of trends, afraid to punctuate.

Go for it. Dare to try something new. We’re supposed to have fun with style.

Who are your fashion icons?

I love Natalie Portman — she has an eternal simplicity.

Grace Kelly, not just for her beauty, but she was graceful and polished, beautiful in every role of her life (actress, mother).

Charlize Theron.

Queen Latifah. She knows her body, she has a great shape and shows it off, but does it always with taste.

Anne Hathaway is amazing. She’s a lover of couture and really supports the fashion industry.
