But even supermodels like Helena Christensen can have a fashion slip up now and then.
The 44-year-old was barely recognisable in an unflattering ensemble as she stepped out in the West Village neighbourhood in New York City on Tuesday.

The Denmark-born beauty sported workout clothes which included a garish hooded sweatshirt, purple track pants, a beige hat and a pair of very bright running shoes.
But she appeared to be more concerned about staying warm in the chilly Manhattan temperatures than making a fashion statement.
Her rather eclectic appearance was a far cry from her ensemble the previous evening where she stepped out at a Vogue screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom in full stunning supermodel mode, sporting a black dress, tights and red shoes.

Helena is currently the face of NYDJ - formerly known as Not Your Daughter's Jeans - a denim range marketed towards a more mature woman promising to make wearers appear one dress size smaller.
The beautiful brunette has also turned her hand to photography in recent years and has put on a number of exhibitions as well as having her work appear in numerous magazines.
She has most recently been acting as creative director for Nylon magazine, designing and working on photography exhibits.
In 2012, she partnered with classic European negligee brand Triumph to create her own lingerie collection.
Helena recently revealed that although she was always taking pictures whilst modelling, she never really saw either as a career.
Speaking to Vogue she said: ‘They were just interesting. I accept now that they were careers in the sense that I'm proud of having had those two jobs alongside each other.
‘I think, in the beginning, when you start modelling, you just see how it goes. It's an experience and an interesting journey. Photography was a much more personal thing.’
She also admitted that her photography had been influenced by those she had worked with over the years.
‘Irving would have you stand in the same position for 20 minutes. It was intense, you'd start shaking because your muscles would need to move,’ she told the magazine.
Currently dating British rocker Paul Banks, the star has a 12-year-old son, Mingus from her relationship with Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus.
Her own line: Helena is also the face, and body, of her own range for bra giant Triumph with her Forties-inspired collection of vintage lace bras and soft sleepwear
