Maybe it's because her father was at her side — at least, we think that was Billy Ray Cyrus, it could have been Joey Fatone — but Miss Miley Cyrus, she of the latex undies and pasties-as-formalwear, donned a sleek and chic Versus Versace white tuxedo with gold safey-pin trim at the 2013 American Music Awards in Los Angeles tonight. No, she wasn't wearing a shirt, but she was still showing less skin than many of her cohorts on the red carpet.
So maybe we're being a little hypocritical in dinging Taylor Swift, then, for not being daring enough. She tried to sex herself up with leonine hair and a tiny gold sequined minidress from Julien MacDonald, but the thick nude illusion netting in the dress's triangular cut-out ruined the effect. Other worst dressed nominees: Heidi Klum, who looked like Steve Nicks after a low-grade tiger mauling, and "Glee" star Naya Rivera in Michael Kors, the most covered-up star of the night ... except for the gaping throat-to-belly-button slit.
The biggest trend of the evening (other than BOOBS! — see Rivera, Sarah Silverman and Aubrey O'Day) were white cut-out gowns, sported by Christina Aguilera, Nicole Richie and Kendall Jenner. They all wore it well, but Richie carried it off the best. We also liked Jennifer Hudson's asymmetrical orange Christian Dior with its flash of pink and Katy Perry's sweet polka-dotted Oscar de la Renta. A qualified best dressed to Caroline Bryan, Luke Bryan's wife, who wore a stunning Naeem Khan — if only Stacy Keibler hadn't debuted it at the Oscars 10 months ago.
