If the idea of Pittsburgh Fashion Week was to leave 'em wanting more, then its organizers got it right. When Miyoshi Anderson announced the end of the "Rediscovering ManStyle" fashion show last Tuesday, the audience of men and women let out a disappointed "awww."
Crowds exceeded seating capacity at each event and every day brought new friends to the group's Facebook page, said Ms. Anderson, its founder.
"People kept coming up to me and saying, 'Great show! We can't wait til next year!' " she said.
Next year's Fashion Week (www.pittsburghfashionweek.com), the fifth one, will be held Sept. 22-28. The lineup of events will remain the same, including student fashion shows at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh on Saturday and inductions into the Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame on Sunday. Ms. Anderson, a former model, was particularly impressed with the work of the six student designers: Caitlyn Riegal, Sammi Parrish, Erica Ersick, Laura Hillman, Allison Bailey and Christina Knieriem.
"It looked like a New York runway show, from the styling of the hair and makeup to the clothes. ... They really put forth so much effort," she said.
