Blake Lively may rub shoulders with Anna Wintour in the front row at Gucci, but that doesn’t mean she understands the oft-confusing (and counter-intuitive) fashion cycle (ie, showing next-season winter collections in the early spring and vice versa). In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
Lively confessed to Vogue UK that she didn’t realize leading up to Fashion Month that the shows she’d be attending were presenting spring collections–this being early autumn, and all.
“It was actually really funny leading up to it because I was saying: ‘I wonder what the collection is like, I wonder if it will be bright, or dark,’ and someone said: ‘Well it might be bright because it’s spring,’ and I said: ‘No, it’s fall,’ and they said: ‘It’s spring!’ And of course they’re not showing fall collections in the fall!” she told the glossy. “It’s funny, as involved as I am in fashion and as much a part of my life as it is, I still thought: ‘Oh!’”
Oh indeed. Lively went on to explain that she’d never actually had the good fortune of seeing a spring show until now, because she was always too tied up filming Gossip Girl (RIP), poor thing. “I came out of high school and went into working on Gossip Girl straight afterwards, so it’s a really new thing for me to have free time in the fall,” she said.
Basically, Blake Lively was willing to sacrifice her own freedom and happiness for five years straight so that we could indulge in ours for an hour on the couch every Monday night. We should all be so saintly.
