Seniors spring into fashion - Corvallis Gazette Times

The chocolate and wine filled their stomachs while warm laughter, fashion and friendship filled the hearts and souls of the 65 attendees Saturday at the second annual Senior Center Spring Fashion Show.

Fourteen models showed off the latest trends from local companies Saturday afternoon at the show which acts as a fundraiser for the Corvallis SeniorCenter.

Christopher & Banks, Sibling Revelry and The Clothes Tree provided the styles while Prestige Senior Living, Regency Park Place and Rite-Aid provided additional services and deals as sponsors for the show. The 65 attendees marveling the fashions and enjoying the chocolate and wine made up a crowd that nearly doubled that of the first show last year.

“Everyone is just so giddy,” said Sharon Bogdanovic, senior center supervisor. “We’re trying to follow trends of what people over 50 want to do and when we get a response like this, we know we’re doing the right program. When we do something that gets this kind of response it goes to the core of who I am. It feeds my soul.”

Rite-Aid wellness ambassador Tami Anderson said she was excited to see so many in attendance.

“The people are all very excited to be here and they seem to love this,” Anderson said. “It’s a really great event for seniors, and we’re happy we could be a part of it.”

But it wasn’t just the attendees who were giddy Saturday. Multigeneral models Mary Fritzinger, daughter Belinda Bylund and granddaughter Rebekah Carrillo said they love fashion and the show gave them a rare chance to enjoy their passion together.

“I think the mother-daughter relationship is a very special one so to have that two or three times over is extra special,” Carrillo said. “We got to do three shopping trips. Any excuse to get together, we take it.”

Bylund said that Fritzinger lives in Pennsylvania with the rest of the family and visits Corvallis each winter.

“So we get her over the winter and we’re always looking to make the most of the time we have together,” Bylund said. “This was a really good time.”

Bylund had the idea for all three of them to model at the fashion show. Fritzinger said she wouldn’t have missed the opportunity for anything.

“I was snagged into it,” Fritzinger joked. “But it was a really good, happy time.”
