Kanye West's comments on fashion's race problem last week have got us thinking about the industry's blind spot and its complex relationship with hip-hop, high fashion and beyond.
On Wednesday HuffPost Live took a closer look at the subject. Host Marc Lamont Hill was joined by an amazing panel of folks, including Vogue's first back cover model and entrepreneur, Beverly Johnson; editorial brand manager for BET and image activist, Michaela Angela Davis; founder and CEO of Harlem's Fashion Row, Brandice Henderson; Cosmopolitan magazine's fashion market director, Shiona Turini; and HuffPost BlackVoices' style and beauty editor, Julee Wilson.
The discussion was spirited to say the least, as the panel delved deep into the reasoning and repercussions of racism within fashion. In other words, it got real!
