Missoula Public Library Shelf Life: Fashion designers wanted for contest - The Missoulian

Interested in fashion? Enjoy recycling or repurposing used materials? Those are the questions the Missoula Public Library’s MakerSpace staff ask as they invite you to enter the Makers’ Ball Fashion Contest.

Anyone interested in recycled/repurposed fashion design is invited to enter and design an outfit for Monday’s Fashion Contest, which is MPL’s inaugural repurposed fashion show and contest.

Designs will be judged by professional artists, designers, and fashionistas. Winners will be announced at the event and awarded cash prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for second place, $25 for third, and $25 for the crowd favorite.

MPL’s MakerSpace will also have Makers’ Ball-related classes to get your creative juices flowing including: Steampunk Design (March 10), Book/Purse Fabrication (March 31), and Fascinators (April 7), along with more to come in April.

The Makers’ Ball Fashion Contest is limited to 15 designers. Please visit http://tinyurl.com/makersball to register to participate, and also to register to get your ticket to attend. Alternately, call 721-BOOK (2665) to register.

We Have It: Staff Reviews

“Duel with the Devil: The True Story of How Alexander Hamilton & Aaron Burr Teamed Up to Take on America’s First Sensational Murder Mystery” by Paul Collins; Crown Publishers, 2013.; Call no.: 364.1523 COLLINS

Although I don’t remember everything my high school history teacher taught me, I definitely remember the famous duel staring Alexander Hamilton and Vice President Aaron Burr.

Will justice win out, or will money, mob mentality, or possibly political influence sway the outcome of the trial?

Collins answers these questions and more as he leads us on a wonderful mystery tour that reveals side bargaining, under-the-table deals, and headlines that could easily be found in today’s newspapers. As for Hamilton and Burr …
