Some of the biggest names in fashion are in the Music City for Nashville Fashion Week.
Crews and designers spent Tuesday putting the final touches on preparations for Nashville Fashion Week.
"We have people coming in from Europe, New York, all over the place, Chicago, Atlanta," said Marcia Masulla, co-founder and managing partner of Nashville Fashion Week.
Masulla helped developed Nashville Fashion Week five years ago to place the spotlight on local designers.
Crews worked to transform Acme Feed and Seed on Lower Broad for Tuesday's show.
"The mission for what we do is to give a platform and to allow our fashion community to grow," Masulla said. "We're not trying to compete with New York. We're not trying to be New York."
Newcomer Ashley Balding, a Franklin native, is one of dozens of designers to display their fall fashions this week.
"All of my clothing is hand-woven," Balding said. "And then I dyed it myself."
With some 300 people expected at Tuesday's show alone, Balding is banking on the kind of exposure that could thrust her designs into retail stores.
"There's such an opportunity to be noticed here," Balding said. "New York is so saturated, so I have a better chance of kind of making a statement here. And if I can do it in a place I love, it's a win-win."
"We are talking about things that you could find on the runway in Milan, New York, Miami, LA," Masulla said. "Nashville is truly a fashion city."
Nashville Fashion Week is attracting some pretty big names, including Nigel Barker, the creator of New York's Fashion Week.
