When Dolls Kill launched in 2010, the company was operating out of the San Francisco loft of husband-and-wife co-founders Bobby Farahi and Shaudi "Shoddy" Lynn. Now, it has 40 employees and has grown a whopping 3,342 percent in the last three years.

Dolls Kill is at the top of the San Francisco Business Times' list of the 100 fastest-growing companies in the Bay Area, because it surged a whopping 3,342 percent in the last three years.

Along with a strong presence on social media and a spot in the growing market of "fast fashion" — or retail that involves low price points and high inventory turnover rates — co-founder Bobby Farahi attributes the growth to the uniqueness of the company's product line. He describes the comapny as a one-stop-shop for women 18 to 25 who previously had to seek out creative looks from a variety of online, thrift and big box retailers.

"We find really cool products that you can't find anywhere else, and merchandise them," Farahi said.

The stars of the clothing company's social media efforts are its "dolls," which each represent a subculture that the company targets, including punk rock, goth, hippie and the glamorous crowd. The clothing styles stem from co-founder and creative director Shaudi Lynn's experience as an electronic dance music DJ (she goes by her DJ name Shoddy Lynn).

The "dolls" are an example of Dolls Kill's relationship with its online audience. Many of the models are fans who won the company's online photo contests.
