More than a dozen models and as many vendors came together Saturday for the first-ever bridal show held at the amphitheater in the Village at Indian Springs.

It was only the second event hosted at the amphitheater, which opened in June with a fundraising concert by the Jimmy Buffett tribute band A1A, benefiting the Jackson-Butts County Council for the Arts.

Area vendors who cater to customers planning weddings and other special events set up in the amphitheater to showcase their products and services.

The bridal show also included a fashion show featuring wedding gowns, bride’s maid dresses and tuxedos. Anahit Formals provided the gowns while Black Tie Formal Wear provided the tuxedos.

Karyn Wofford, a spokesperson for the Village at Indian Springs, said hosting the bridal shower at the amphitheater was a natural choice because of the reputation of the village and nearby Indian Springs State Park as popular wedding destinations.

The show “promotes the venues that are local and … the vendors,” Wofford said.

She said the Village at Indian Springs plans to make the bridal show an annual event.

The bridal show ended with desserts served along with a tour of The Resort in the Village at Indian Springs.

But the show was not entirely over until a special surprise ceremony was held featuring two of the 14 models.

Butts County Sheriff Gary Long, who modeled the last tuxedo of the fashion show, remained at the amphitheater to surprise his wife Robbie, who had modeled one of the show’s wedding gowns. After the show, she was driven back to the main stairway of the venue to be greeted by her father, Gerald Kersey, and escorted to the amphitheater stage where the couple renewed their wedding vows before a small audience of family members, friends and coworkers.

Among the vendors at the bridal show were Creative Catering, Rental Solutions of Jackson, Long’s Limos of Locust Grove, The Buggy House in Jackson, Splash of Life Photography, Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry of Conyers, Bliss Bakery of McDonough, Indian Springs State Park, Serenity Events of Senoia, Amy George Makeup, Farm House Catering of McDonough and Flowers by Harvey. DJ Levi Bonner provided music.

Wofford said the bridal show is one of several events that will be held this year at the new amphitheater.

Saturday, Aug. 9, the amphitheater will host auditions for a talent show scheduled for Sept. 20. Auditions will be by appointment only from 4 to 8 p.m. Call the Big Chief Store at 770-775-5350 to book an appointment or leave a message. On Aug. 23, the amphitheater will host its next concert, by Party Nation, an eight-piece party band performing oldies and current hit songs. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., rain or shine. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 each for lawn seating and $250 for a table for eight. Call or visit the Big Chief Store for tickets.

Wofford said plans were also in the works for a film festival to be hosted at the amphitheater in October.
