If you love artists and artisans, an upcoming event called ICONS: Film, Fashion, Rock 'n' Roll might be just the ticket.

The Twin Cities event on Aug. 9 has local designers joining forces with area artists for a night of fashion, music, film as well as food and craft cocktails. This is the first of its kind, with more events expected in the future. Details such as venue and musical performances are a secret leading up to the event.

Information has been trickling out, with a recent announcement that the gathering will be held in the building of the St. Paul Athletic Club in downtown St. Paul.

We talked to local designer Tim Navarro, a member of Cult Collective co-sponsoring the ICONS event with Commonwealth Properties. If Navarro's name sounds familiar, that's because he's also a contestant on the current season of Lifetime's "Project Runway."

Q: How did this event come together?

A: This is a tastemaker event that's not specifically about fashion but incorporates different walks of life. We wanted a complete sensory event. There's a curated segment of rock films by Sound Unseen. There's a curated fashion part. We're bringing in a top local chef for a craft gastronomy experience. We'll have a mystery buzz band performing and DJs for the runway. Everything is produced and created locally.

Q: What is the Cult Collective?

A: There are five of us who represent different industries -- event producers, designers, art directors and cultural curators -- to create tastemaker events. I'm involved in the fashion part and working with the designers. Hopefully, this event will become an annual thing.

Q: How do these tastemaker events work?

A: We are periodically releasing information about people participating in the event through our website and predominantly through Facebook. The theme of the event is rock 'n' roll, so you can expect to see elements in different aspects of the event.

Q: Why the surprise announcements?

A: We want to give an element of adventure. We'll release the name of the band performing in the next few days.
