A stylish Harlem boutique and its team of fierce fashionistas will star in a new TV makeover show set to premiere Tuesday.
“B.O.R.N. to Style” will feature eclectic boutique owner Jonathan Bodrick and his five-member staff of fashion superheroes as they rescue fashionably challenged customers.
The 125th St. shop called B.O.R.N. — short for borrowed, old, refurbished, new — is known for transforming the looks and lives of everyday people.
It grew out of Bodrick’s longtime love for fashion.
“I’ve been collecting since I was 9 years old — vintage clothes, jewelry and accessories, not even knowing what I was going to do with it,” the Brooklyn native said. “I just had a fascination for the story.”
Bodrick, who worked as a videographer at his brother’s production company, said he never planned to have a brick-and-mortar shop.
“It was a personal thing that I did for myself,” the Ocean Hill-Brownsville resident said. “I mix the old with the new.”
Bodrick began sharing his passion for fashion with others by hosting shopping parties and selling clothes in the South Bronx.
He later set up a clothing rack in the back of a Harlem cosmetic shop called Makari, eventually taking it over to give birth to B.O.R.N.
Despite being on Harlem’s most famous strip, B.O.R.N. is easy to miss.
It’s tucked between a steakhouse and a strip of vacant storefronts between Lenox and Fifth Aves.
Now, nine years later, the cozy shop — filled with men’s and women’s clothes, shoes, jewelry and handbags — will be introduced to the world through the small screen.
Bodrick said the 14-episode series is more than just fashion tips.
“It’s really transforming people’s lives and their perceptions on what they feel and think about themselves,” he said.
“It’s just not about the clothes. It’s about how you feel from the inside out,” he added. “It’s fashion therapy.”
The show will premiere on the brand-new FYI network Tuesdays at 10 p.m.
