Can we talk? In the wake of Joan Rivers' untimely death this past September, loyal Fashion Police fans have been wondering who could possibly fill the big (but oh-so-chic) shoes she left behind on her trademark snarky style show. One contender: the always-feisty Kathy Griffin.

"They did offer it to me," the comedienne told Access Hollywood of Rivers' former gig on Tuesday, Nov. 4, Griffin's 54th birthday. She noted, however, that she had reservations about accepting. "I don't know if the situation is correct at this time for me, or right for me at this time," she admitted.

She would like to see Rivers' legacy live on, though — regardless of whether she's the late icon's successor. "I really hope they continue in the spirit of Joan's work. She brought a fearlessness and a brand of humor into our homes that we really need," Griffin told Access of her mentor and friend. "Somebody's gotta be out there poking fun at the ridiculousness of all this!"

Rivers' Fashion Police co-hosts, including Giuliana Rancic , Kelly Osbourne , and George Kotsiopoulos intend to do just that — beginning with the 2015 awards season. Producers announced two weeks after the star's death that the show would go on, despite earlier reports about its uncertain future.
"We decided, with Melissa Rivers' blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue," E! News announced on Sept. 19. "Fashion Police will return in 2015 commencing with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, January 12. No further details will be announced at this time."
The network then honored Rivers with a day-long Fashion Police marathon, culminating in a special Fashion Police tribute episode for what they called "Joan Day."
