Fashion week intensive: Nine days, dozens of shows - The Times-Picayune

For a concentrated course in the latest fall fashions, save these dates: March 14-22.

For those nine days, NOLA Fashion Week puts local and Southern designers on its runways. During the same period, from March 18-22, Fashion Week New Orleans presents runway shows featuring retailers and boutiques as well as established and emerging designers. Yes, these are two separate events. And yes, the similarity in names makes things very confusing. Here’s the rundown on the runways:

Local and regional designers scheduled to steer their fall lines onto the NOLA Fashion Week walkways include: Limousine by Dreamcar, Hazel & Florange, Noël Martin, Three07, Nicole Paloma, Libellule, by Smith, Matthew Arthur, Hunt Collective, The Dope Game, Dama Talya, American Prep, Jennifer Evans, M Aurelius and Anthony Ryan. Emerging designers with featured work are: Annie Etzel, Alex Engelhardt, Maddie Louivere and Christopher Rogers. Keep an eye on nolafashionweek.com for schedule details. Along with the runway shows, a fashion market, open to buyers and the public, will show the work of emerging designers’ brands such as Jess Leigh Jewels, Bats on Tees and Small Change Finery.

At Fashion Week New Orleans, you’ll also see established Southern designers. Emerging designers will compete in the Top Design Competition, while chic parties will offer industry networking opportunities. Highlights include a VIP Patron Party & Fashion Presentation hosted at Harold Clarke Couturier Atelier. Harold Clarke also will be the finale fashion show on March 21. Debuting is Lisa McRoberts, an LSU fashion design professor, whose collection uses Louisiana alligators. Neiman Marcus will make its debut, closing out the March 20 runway show.
